So I Go To Vote…

2008 November 4

…and the woman checking people’s identification is dressed as Sarah Palin. Not like a costume, but she had upswept hair, bangs, glasses, lipstick, the whole nine yards. So much so that one of the voters said, “Bye, Sarah Palin!” as they left the building. She blushed, smiled, and said very half-heartedly, “You can’t say her name in here!”

After leaving, I called the county clerk’s office to complain and was brushed off with “that’s just the way she looks.” Maybe I overreacted, but it’s hard to keep from feeling disadvantaged in this uber-red state.

I’m a poll checker today and if that had happened, you better believe I would have been calling the attorney. That’s voter intimidation if you ask me. Totally inappropriate.

So much for impartiality… Call the election people and complain.

I see your side, but I wonder if she dressed up that way for election day or if that was “her look” even before Sarah Palin became a household name. As the clerk said, if “that’s just the way she looks” then I’m not sure she should be forced to change just for election day.

I am not even going to begin to tell you what happened today when I went to vote. I was dumbfounded. I called the Auditor’s office and complained.

    OMG. That’s crazy.
