I would love to know this too.

I am a musician and record my own stuff. 100% original. I would like to use at least one of them as a ring tone. I can’t. I have cropped songs to less than 30 seconds and made sure the sample rate was 16Khz, ensured the file size was less than 64Kb, mono file format. I “get” the audio end of it. The dang things just don’t want to play as a ring tone. When I open a pre-installed ringtone in music player a menu option comes up to set as ring tone. Any of my files never give me this option.

What am I missing? Is this a DRM issue?

I just got an AT&T LG Xenon and paid extra for the USB and sandisk micro card. I have moved some of my Mp3 music from my computer to the phone via USB, but was wondering how to set them as ringtone.

I need help in my LG shine ke970 please contact me via email as soon as possible . Actually, I have a problem right now in it, when I call anybody, it said that the network is busy and I can not call anybody. I tried the SIM card in another phone and the card is perfect and is working very well so what is the reason of this problem. Can anybody help me please?

The latest rev of BitPim works great for Chocolate 3 X8560 from Verizon – but only if you use the program on a XP machine. I tried the same program on my Vista machine at home and the converter-portion of the program did not allow access to the ringers section. Just remember that, after you convert the ringtone and add it to your phone, you will have to re-boot the phone before it will show up as a choice option.

@ LenaB: I love everything about this phone except that the navigation wheel seems a little too sensitive. I’m sure I’ll get used to that, so I highly recommend it.

I, too, have Verizon and I’ve found their customer service to be quite fantastic. My contract is up in July and I’m debating renewing it… your phone is way pretty, though.

@ mario: I was talking with Verizon customer support last night and the lady placed a call to my cellphone to make sure that it was working. She commented on my mp3 ringtone and seemed rather surprised when I told her I had made it myself. :)

I have to say that the two times I’ve talk with Verizon’s customer service so far have been the best experiences I’ve ever had with phone support from any company.

I have a Samsung U740 through Verizon. I’ve managed to import some ringtones from myxer, but some file formats just don’t work. I tried getting Verizon to comment, but all they want to do is sell me THEIR ringtones. Ugh.

@ Robby: I read that using BitPim could void the warranty on your phone, so I was too scared to try it. I have the text message plan, so that wasn’t really an issue.

It was so easy on my Samsung SGH-D807 (AT&T Wireless) to set any audio file as a ringtone. I was very surprised to see that Verizon didn’t offer the same capability.

I have a VX8600 (the flip version of the chocolate). With almost all LG phones, you can purchase a USB cable (or connect via BlueTooth) and send songs to your phone using a great program called BitPim. Then you don’t have to pay e-mail / text attachment fees (if that’s not part of your plan). :)
