Brian,
I do think that not watching tv helps allow your brain to absorb more around you , but I know alot of the people you grew up around and I think that you were just born highly intelligent (a gift from god)!!!!

Interesting memories!!!

@ Karen - Many non-religious parents are rearing their children without television and I think most studies confirm that it's more beneficial for creativity and development. I certainly turned to other things for entertainment, like drawing and reading.

From KidsHealth.org:

"During the first 2 years, a critical time for brain development, TV can get in the way of exploring, learning, and spending time interacting and playing with parents and others, which helps young children develop the skills they need to grow cognitively, physically, socially, and emotionally."

After 2 years, they recommend no more than 1 to 2 hours of quality programming each day.

@ Wendy - I'm glad I'm not the only gullible person around! ;)

@ randomyriad - Yes, they should. I got lucky.

@ Caroline - Yep!

Everyone should have a grandmother like that. I know I should have. Mine was not nearly so much fun. My grandfather told me chocolate milk came from brown cows so logically I guess that makes sense.

Great stories, I love them. I could read them all day. And I fell hook line and sinker for the calf story, I never saw the punchline coming.

One of the things that's been interesting to me about getting to know you, Brian, is that you seem to have retained what I call "original mind." That is, you're able to think more creatively and freely than many of your peers. This I find unusual in light of your religious upbringing. One of the things I find myself wondering is if the lack of television wasn't a plus in this regard.
