Love Your Enemies

Jerry Falwell is dead and I can’t honestly say that I’m saddened by the news. He was so full of hate and deceit that the world must certainly be a little better off without his presence.

But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you. – Matthew 5:44

The computer that I read the headline on had a sign hanging next to it with that verse. It gave me pause, as I realized that we all have faults and demons that we have to struggle with and his must have certainly been abominable. Perhaps he is finally at peace, and perhaps we’ll have one less voice of bigotry to contend with.

Perhaps.

  • Yes, yes, and yes. Thank you for posting the Bible verse. One less bigot in this world is no loss. As I said in my post, Karma is gonna get me, but I’m prepared for it. The only sadness in my heart is that seventy or so years ago, someone had a little tiny baby named Jerry, and he was sweet and loving, and somewhere along the line, all that changed. How do we go from being innocent, fuzzy babies, to so incredibly hateful?
