Studies do show that second hand smoke is harmful. It is a health risk. It is kind of ironic that your work decided to just limit it in the bathrooms. However, there are waitresses working in those restaurants that don't have a choice (unless they quit). The secondhand smoke is literally killing them, so I can understand the government feeling the need to step in if the business owners don't do it for themselves. It's just a shame that some people won't take the initiative before it gets legislated. I can definitely see your point and even agree with it for the most part. That's their perogative, right? I'm NOT okay with goverments legislating it. (And I say this as a non-smoker.) Admittedly, I am spoiled because there is an active smoking ban where I live, but I still hate how the government removes the very idea of personal responsibility. If you want to destroy your lungs, fine. If I want to eat dinner in a non-smoky atmosphere, I will take my business to places that support that.
