Yahoo Problems

Dear family and friends,

I installed Yahoo Messenger this evening and during the process of getting it set up and going, my account stopped working. Now, when I try to sign-in, it says that my account in unrecoverable. EEEK! I contacted Customer Care, but I’m sure it will be at least two days before I get any help.

I really hope that I have not lost all of my emails, including the ones that Alan and I exchanged when we first met. :( The thought of that actually makes me feel like crying.

Please be aware that I am unable to receive email at my regular address, and since I no longer have access to my contacts, I am unable to send most of you an alternative.

Update #1 – I just realized that my Flickr account is connected to my Yahoo account (this is unavoidable, as Yahoo bought Flickr). Anyway, all of my photos are now inaccessible. I contacted Flickr’s Customer Care and it appears that I may be able to get my photos back.

In the meantime, I have created a Gmail account, which I will probably be using from now on. I don’t trust Yahoo anymore, as I have read that this is happening to many Y! users.

Update #2 – Yahoo restored my account and my Flickr account and apologized for the inconvenience. I still have no idea why it happened in the first place, so I’m sticking with Gmail as my primary email provider. I am required to have a Yahoo account to use Flickr, so hopefully I won’t have any more problems with them.

  • Ohhh … I am so-o-o-o-o sorry to hear this. I lost all my emails after updating to a new version of Entourage recently, and that made me feel like crying too :-(

However, I am delighted to hear you are on Gmail! (I have long wished more of my friends would make the switch from Yahoo!) You can write to me at [edited by Brian for privacy reasons] 8-)

  • Inel,

I sent a message to the email that you listed and have edited it out so that you don’t get any spammers! :)

  • Diolch yn fawr, Brian. (Thank you very much.) I appreciate the free spam protection service you provide on my behalf.
